Samurai Spirit: 'Ki-no-Renma'

Ki no Renma

Breathing exercises and meditation

"Ki-no-Renma" is a combination of breathing exercises, concentration and meditation

"Ki-no-Renma" literally means "forging life energy" (Ki in Japanese or Prana in Sanskrit). The term "Renma" is used in Japan to refer to the art of swordsmithing, which is the result of a slow, long, and repeated work of overlapping and fusing different layers of steel. The choice of this ideogram underlines the importance of a constant and lasting repetition of the various forms of breathing and meditation.

The word "Ki"

stands for the life energy, which underlies the metabolism, the survival and the mental, emotional and spiritual expression of the person. "Ki" should not be understood as mere material energy like electricity, but as a subtle force that is endowed with intelligence and will.

With the practice of Ki-no-Renma, we try to bring this power, which is both personal and universal, into contact with us, to absorb it and to circulate it.This is done through a series of exercises that are divided into:

  • Breathing and control of life energy (Pranayama in Sanskrit and Shu-Ki-No-Ho in Japanese)
  • Forms of relaxation
  • Meditation exercise
  • Exercises for the sixth sense

The goals we can strive for:

  • Strengthen our life energy
  • Improve ability to concentrate
  • Control sensory and nervous system activities
  • Relax your body and mind
  • learn to meditate
